Thank you for your interest and for visiting my website ! This page is dedicated to some of the most common questions asked about microblading and other forms of permanent makeup. Please read the page in its entirety before booking your appointment to ensure you are a good candidate and are fully prepared before your appointment. Getting the best results starts before you ever step foot in my studio! I am so looking forward to meeting you at your appointment and creating your dream brows, can’t wait to meet you!
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
microblading is a way of semi-permanent makeup, where through a manual process of inserting pigment into the upper layers of the skin we can create the desired fullness and shape of the brows , the effects can last anywhere between a year to 3 years depending on the skin type , lifestyle and how well you take care of them . Touch ups are suggested once a year in order to keep the color fresh and shape precise.
Microblading is meant to be a natural enhancement, and to create the appearance of full, beautiful brows. Microblading heals best on young, healthy skin that is normal-dry.
Oily skin and aging/thin skin is not recommended for microblading. Results will not heal as well, or look as natural. If you have aging or oily skin, you are better suited for ombre brow or shadow lux lines!
WHAT IS MICROSHADING?
microshading is technique where we combine microblading strokes w shading to create a fuller and denser look , this is a beautiful look for clients looking to get naturally and density , is ideal for normal to dry skin , and clients under 50 years old
WHAT IS AN OMBRE BROW?
Unlike microblading or micro shading, ombre brows has no hair strokes but little pixels and is done with an electric tool and a tiny needle . This look is ideal for those that want their brows to look very defined and a more filled in, makeup look, This style may look intense at first, but heals 30- 40% lighter giving the most gorgeous powdery look. An ombre brow is also ideal for oily, sensitive or aging skin, or for clients that have very thick hair, and lasts longer than microblading.
HOW LONG WILL MY SEMI-PERMANENT COSMETICS LAST?
Cosmetic tattooing is designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo. The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. To take care of your brows follow the aftercare instructions and touch-up your brows every 12-18 months (as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for Permanent Cosmetics.
*Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is recommended at 4-8 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.
WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY PERMANENT COSMETICS?
- Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery.
- Smoking: Smokers may notice that their Semi-Permanent Cosmetics will fade faster
- Anemia and Iron Deficiency: Your body will absorb iron based pigments more quickly.
- Sun Exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. You will want to use a special sunscreen for your Semi-Permanent Cosmetics
- Age and Metabolism. The Faster your metabolism the faster the pigment will fade.
- Excessive Bleeding: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine 24 hours before your procedure.
DO PERMANENT COSMETICS HURT?
No! Topical 5% Lidocaine is used throughout the procedure to make you comfortable . Pain tolerance varies from client to client, and some clients feel a slight discomfort. Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.
WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR PERMANENT MAKEUP :
- Currently using Accutane, or have used Accutane within the past year
- Have a freshly tanned/sunburned face
- Are on blood thinning medications or antibiotics
- Have Rosacea
- Are currently undergoing cancer treatment
- Must be off Chemo or Radiation for 6 monthshave very active acnehave diabeteshave heart problemsnot controled high blood preasure
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
You must not use Retin-A 2 weeks before or after the procedure.
No Botox, fillers, Microdermabrasion, chemical peels or anything of the like for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure, and also two weeks after.
do not take any medication that could act as a blood thinner such as aspirin , vitamin d , fish oil ,etc
do not drink coffee or alcohol the day before or the day of your appointment
do not wax 2-3 days before treatment
no chemical peels, microdermabrasion laser or any other intense treatments 2 weeks prior to your appointment
show and fix your hair as you need to limited your showers to 5 minutes for the next 7 days
DOING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WILL CAUSE EXCESSIVE BLEEDING AND HINDER YOUR FINAL RESULT:
- Do not work out the day of your appointment.
- You should not take any medications that may thin your blood (i.e. Aspirin, Ibuproferen) 72 hours before or immediately after your procedure.
- Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of your procedure.
- Avoid caffeine for 24 hours before your procedure. (Caffeine increases blood flow and will effect your healed results)
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
Immediately after getting your brows done, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Within the following hours, the pigment in the skin will darken, making the brows look more bold than they were initially. This is normal! The ink will look dark and warm the first few days as it oxidizes in the skin, and will go back to normal. You can expect the brows to heal 10-20% lighter than they were immediately after your appointment.
Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the brows. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (typically around day 10), the brows will appear lighter. The skin will normalize over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in it’s healed color.
At 4-6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up the spots that didn’t stick, and can adjust the pigment color to give you perfect brows! Once the brows have healed from your touch up appointment, you will have beautiful, full brows for 12-36 months!
Following the given aftercare is crucial to obtain the best results! The following aftercare will be texted to you at your appointment, and will be discussed in detail. All needed aftercare items will be provided to you!
o Cleanse morning and night for 7 days with the provided cleanser.
o Apply a rice-sized amount of balm to the brows 3x a day for 2 weeks with a q-tip.
o Save extra cleanser and balm for your touch up appt, you should have enough for both!
o You may wear makeup around the brows, but nothing directly over or around them for 2 weeks. Once ALL the flaking has stopped, you may fill in any little patches with a pencil until your touch up.
o Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks. If extended sun exposure is happening, you must wear a large hat to protect the brows as they heal.
o Do not touch, pick, rub, or scratch the brows. Do not pick the scabs or flakes as they come off, this will remove the pigment and lead to patchiness. Let it happen and trust the process!
o No anti-aging or acne products on the brows ever (anything with Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc.)
